Email Opportunities You’re Not Taking

We know that emailing our members regularly is important for engagement. You might think that emails are only good to let your members know when you have an event happening or something is on, but in reality, there are so many other opportunities you can take to connect with your members.

We’ve put together some of the key email opportunities clubs often miss and how you can take advantage of them.

Post-event

You might always think to email your members when you’ve got something coming up and want your members to know about it or want to increase attendance, but something you may not have considered is emailing them after the event, too. These emails can go just to the people who attended the event to say thank you and to even ask them to complete a survey about their experience so you know how to improve next time. You could also email your entire membership base and do a post-event recap so everyone who didn’t attend can see what they missed out on.

Check-ins

Emails don’t have just communicate strict and formal information. Particularly in times like this, it’s important to email your members and check in, just because. Reminding your members they’re not alone when you can’t hold any physical events or in times of isolation can be really comforting for a lot of people. You can also include links to meditations, yoga stretches or positive reads.

Monthly previews or recaps

Emailing your members on a regular recurring basis is a great way to maintain engagement members throughout the year. You can either email your members at the start of each month, giving them a sneak preview of what to expect and what events are coming up, even if they’re not live yet. This will get your members excited about what’s to come by encouraging them to keep an eye out for more information. It’s also a good way to get your members engaged on other platforms, like your Facebook or website if this is where your members can find more details when they’re available. On the other hand, if your club isn’t quite that organised and is going with the flow, a monthly recap is another great option. These emails can give a wrap-up of the month that was, giving an overview of everything your club achieved, the events you ran and of any current internship or scholarship openings. Monthly emails help keep your club fresh in your members’ minds.

Member highlights

Has one of your members recently received an award? Or maybe they’ve just completed an industry internship and want to share their experience with other club members? Sharing this with your members helps them feel connected with your club and can encourage them to get more involved. Member highlights can even extend to your executive team, highlighting what their role is in the club and why they got involved. This is a great way for your members to get to know the executive team so they know who to contact and can put a face to the club, helping them feel more connected and involved. It can also be a great tool to use at the end of the year when elections are near, or whenever a club has an opening on their executive team.

Industry news

Whether you’re a faculty based club or focused on social events, things in the world are always changing. It’s important to keep your members up to date on these changes and any general news, such as internship opportunities, business closures, industry scholarships, networking opportunities and more.

With all of these opportunities, it’s important to still keep in mind the dos and don’ts of sending emails to your members. Check out our blog for more information.
